MEDCOM at TRANSEXPO 2016

The 13th edition of the TRANSEXPO International Public Transport Fair took place in Kielce between 11 and 13 October 2016. It is undoubtedly one of the most important events for the public transport industry in Poland. This year, more than 160 exhibitors, including many from abroad, presented their products and services across a total of over 10,000 square metres of exhibition space.

For MEDCOM, it was primarily a chance to show our proprietary dedicated solutions for electric buses. We presented new products, including a new traction inverter integrated with an auxiliary converter (FT-160-600 / PSM-42), which was made using Full SiC (silicon carbide) technology.

“SiC is undoubtedly the next step in the technological revolution in designing innovative power electronic devices for public transport. Thanks to the use of the technology based on silicon carbide in MEDCOM’s converters, we can already limit energy losses by as much as 30% and significantly reduce the level of noise. Moreover, the solution makes it possible to reduce the size and weight of the devices by about 40% and use high switching frequencies and higher working temperatures – unattainable in silicon semiconductors,” says Piotr Wroński, Vice-President of the Board of MEDCOM.

We also presented – for the first time in Poland – a new series of chargers for electric buses enabling charging of vehicles from the electricity grid and fixed electrical installations. Our mobile charger was exhibited at the stand of the Solaris company, where the Solaris Urbino 12 bus (with a MEDCOM drive), which won the prestigious title of “Bus of the Year 2017” this year, was presented.

Visitors of the fair in Kielce also had the opportunity to see our E-recycler – a proprietary system for recovering the energy generated during braking of traction vehicles, and a new hybrid inverter for small, wind power plants, and wind and solar power plants.
