Two prizes at the TRAKO trade fair awarded to the SiC drive for electric buses

During this year’s TRAKO trade fair (26-29 September 2017), MEDCOM presented not only solutions for rail transport, but also its products for electric buses.

Our bus traction inverter, designed fully using silicon carbide technology, integrated with an auxiliary converter (FT-160-600/PSM-42), won the Medal of the President of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers and the Prof. Jan Podolski prize in a contest organized by the Urban Transport Chamber of Commerce. We are very grateful for both prizes.

At the trade fair in Gdańsk, we also presented a stationary modular battery charging system for electric buses, but above all an entire range of solutions for rail vehicles, including static converters for the subway, traction inverters integrated with static converters for trams, and buffer power supplies.

- We would like to thank all the visitors who came to our stand, the vehicle manufacturers whom we had the opportunity to meet, and all our partners. This year’s edition of the TRAKO trade fair was special for us because we could reveal that we have overcome an obstacle to the development of SiC technology and are now starting mass production of bus chargers. This was just three years after MEDCOM developed its first product using silicon carbide. Now we can offer products using SiC technology to vehicle manufacturers, but we are also continuing our research and development activities and working on new applications and uses. I am sure that each year the number of projects in which SiC technology is used will increase - said Joanna Nichthauser, MEDCOM.
