MEDCOM is completing deliveries of drives and auxiliary power supplies for trams for the city of Izmir, Turkey, manufactured by Hyundai Rotem. This is MEDCOM’s second order completed for the South Korean concern this year.
Previously, MEDCOM’s products and solutions were used in trams for the city of Antalya, where the first vehicles are already in service and transporting passengers. In total, in 2016, MEDCOM provided equipment for more than 50 vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Rotem for Turkey.
Yesterday, our company was visited by Seung-tack Kim, CEO & President, and Hyung-wook Kim, Vice-President at Hyundai Rotem. The meeting was a chance to sum up the cooperation to date and talk about more joint projects.
“We are happy that all of our previous projects carried out for Hyundai Rotem were successful, but we wouldn’t like to stop at that. Turkey is a market with huge potential, very promising, where public transport is gaining significance and replacing means of transport widely used before, such as the very popular private buses. We want to enhance our position in this part of the world, but this is not the only direction we’re interested in, obviously. Hyundai Rotem is a very important business partner to us, a global concern. We hope that the talks we’re having at the moment will allow us to continue cooperation on new projects, carried out also in other, new markets,” says Piotr Wroński, Vice-President of the Board at MEDCOM.
In the Turkish market, MEDCOM cooperates not only with Hyundai Rotem, but also with a Turkish company, Bozankaya, which applied our solutions in 25-meter long, bi-articulated trolleybuses in Malatya and trams in Kayseri.
