New Impuls vehicles for the Lesser Poland region with MEDCOM’s solutions

On 28 November 2016, NEWAG handed over 6 new ezt Impuls vehicles to the Lesser Poland Voivodeship at the PKP train station in Nowy Sącz. The traction drives, auxiliary converters, and the TCMS for all the vehicles were supplied by MEDCOM.

The Impuls vehicles will be put into regular service as soon as December 2016, with the introduction of the new timetable, and will transport passengers from Kraków to Tarnów. Two four-car articulated vehicles (Impuls 31WE – 200 seats) and four five-car articulated vehicles (Impuls 45WE – 250 seats) will soon hit the tracks of Lesser Poland.

Their operational speed is 160 km/h. Lesser Poland’s Impuls vehicles are not just fast, however, but also very comfortable. The trains were equipped with air-conditioning, ticket machines, Wi-Fi, and USB ports for charging laptops. Special information boards which will display detailed information for passengers concerning the train’s stops, delays, and available train connections and changes were also installed inside.

As part of the current contract, NEWAG will supply a total of 12 electric multiple units to the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The next 6 will be delivered at the beginning of 2017.

We wish Lesser Poland’s passengers safe and comfortable travels!
